About Abol Ethiopian Market

A family-owned Ethiopian market on Columbia Pike, keeping the pantry of a neighbourhood stocked — the bread, the spice, the coffee and the meat that Ethiopian and Eritrean cooking is built on.

Our store

Abol is a grocery and convenience store first: injera delivered fresh, spices in quantities you actually cook with, and a meat counter where you can ask for what you want rather than take what is pre-wrapped. Over time our neighbours started asking us to cook for their gatherings and to butcher for their holidays, so we added both as services you can order ahead.

The name comes from abol — the first and strongest pour of the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony.
